Andrea Mitchell
Andrea Mitchell is a Washington D.C.-based American TV journalist, anchor and anchor and. Mitchell graduated from the University of Pennsylvania with a degree in English literature. Mitchell was recruited as a reporter for KYW Radio and TV Philadelphia in the year 1967. In 1976, she was a CBS affiliate WDVM-TV. (then WTOP in Washington DC). Then she joined NBC News Washington two years later as general reporter. The year 1981 saw her begin reporting on the White House and became chief congressional correspondent in 1988. She was appointed the chief White House correspondent by NBC News in 1992. Mitchell was a panelist as well as presenter of the TV program Meet the Press. She was on the panel in 1988's presidential debates which pitted George Bush against Michael Dukakis. Mitchell was married Alan Greenspan the former chairman of the Federal Reserve Board. Mitchell received the Goldsmith Career Award in Journalism in 2005, which was awarded by the John F. Kennedy School of Government. The Radio-Television News Directors Association awarded Mitchell Leonard Zeidenberg Award in 2004 to recognize her efforts in defending First Amendment Freedoms. Mitchell was the very first reporter to write about White House stories for NBC News during Ronald Reagan's tenure as president from 1981-1988. Mitchell reported on a variety of important stories including the Iran-Contra scandal as well as the tax reforms to the budget and arms control. She traveled together with Reagan on numerous occasions to meet with Reagan many times to summits and debate matters like that of the Iran Contra scandal.
